About the Facility
Although it’s conveniently located near several major metropolitan areas, Lincoln Recovery itself is nestled in the serene Illinois countryside. Its setting can help you heal even before you step inside. Once you enter the center, you’ll meet with staff who’ll assess your needs and will show you to your own bedroom and bathroom. This arrangement provides privacy and access to medical assistance if you need it. The facility’s common areas are also accessible and comfortable, offering opportunities to receive treatment, connect with others, eat, exercise, and relax. While you’re there, Lincoln Recovery will do everything it can to make you feel welcome.
About the Staff
Experienced and caring. Those words that describe the people who work at Lincoln Recovery. They’re devoted to making your visit secure, comfortable, and efficient. Our dedicated workers include nurses and doctors who will assist you during detox, as well as licensed social workers and licensed clinical professional counselors who will conduct group therapy sessions and help you manage your case. Behavioral health technicians (BHTs) will assist you in countless ways, while people who work in the kitchen and housekeeping services will provide tasty, nutritious food and ensure that your surroundings are clean and safe. Do you need assistance with veterans’ benefits? Our staff members can help you. Do you like to practice yoga? Someone leads multiple sessions a week at the center. The hard work of many people makes Lincoln Recovery feel like a welcoming community, not an impersonal treatment facility.

A recovery advocate also works to bridge the gap between patients and staff, to facilitate communication and ensure patients’ needs and concerns are addressed.

All staffers receive continuing education from Relias on a monthly and annual basis to better help patients recover from substance use disorder.

Amenities and Activities
While addiction treatment requires effort, you also might be concerned about other types of work.
If you have a job that allows you to work remotely, you might be able to fulfill your job responsibilities while receiving treatment. Except for group therapy sessions and other designated times, Lincoln Recovery allows you to use electronic devices such as phones, laptops, and tablets throughout your stay.
You can also use these devices to keep in contact with your loved ones, so they can learn what’s happening and share in the progress you’re making.
When you want to unplug, you’ll also have access to state-of-the-art gym equipment and a heated indoor pool. You can also stroll Lincoln Recovery’s grounds, fish from its pond, compete with others in volleyball or horseshoes, play darts or ping pong, borrow books from its library, or participate in other activities and outings.
Rehab takes work, but relaxation is also important.
Intake and Detox
The minute you walk through Lincoln Recovery’s doors, you’ll receive caring, personalized attention. This entry period is known as intake and could start with something good to eat and a comfortable place to sit. As you proceed through intake, we’ll talk with you and conduct tests to see how you’re doing physically and mentally. We’ll take you on a tour and address your questions or concerns. You might spend the next three to five days or so in detox (detoxification) to remove any alcohol or drugs from your body. During this time, you might receive medications to reduce cravings, withdrawal symptoms, or anxiety. Because of these prescriptions and the medical nature of detox, we’ll check with you frequently, especially during the early stages of the process. Staff members will monitor your breathing, your heart rate, and other processes. They’ll also remind you to rest as much as possible to recover from detox and prepare yourself for the treatment that awaits.
Our Treatments
Group therapy, known as group, is central to Lincoln Recovery’s treatment approach. Drug and alcohol counselors conduct these sessions, which usually focus on a specific subject. One day, the counselor may help the group discuss anger-related issues, while another day, they might explore the topic of relapses. Such therapy sessions typically last six hours a day, leaving you time for other treatments, such as eye movement and desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) if you need to manage trauma, or family therapy that can help you understand and improve your relationships. Additionally, you might attend SMART Recovery and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) support group meetings so you can discuss your sobriety with others who have had similar experiences. Your busy day might start as early as 5 a.m. to receive medications and end at 10 p.m. during the week and 11 p.m. at weekends. But you can also go to sleep earlier. Part of rehab is discovering what you need to do to stay healthy and encourage your sobriety.
What to Expect
You’ll be learning the moment you arrive at Lincoln Recovery, and we will too. We’ll discuss your physical and mental state to determine how to approach your recovery. You’ll go on a tour of the facility where we’ll discuss who we are, what we do, and what you’ll be doing. After receiving a room and getting settled, you might spend three to five days undergoing medically supervised detox procedures, or you might proceed to treatment. Treatment includes group therapy as well as other approaches that could help manage trauma, relationship problems, or other issues. You might attend sobriety support group meetings or socialize with other clients. Throughout treatment, you’ll be able to talk with your loved ones. You’ll also enjoy hearty, regularly scheduled meals, access to exercise opportunities and leisure activities, and other opportunities. You’ll also work with staff members to arrange additional assistance known as aftercare that you’ll receive after you leave the center. Your treatment will be as individual as you are. If something isn’t working or you’re uncomfortable, our staff will work with you to make adjustments and corrections. After all, at Lincoln Recovery, the focus is on you and your healing.
Everyday Life at the Center
Hungry? Lincoln Recovery is the place for you. It offers food that’s nutritious, hearty, and comforting. One of its specialties is pony shoes, a dish popular in Lincoln Recovery’s home of central Illinois. It consists of a thick slice of toast topped by a piece of meat (such a piece of ham or a hamburger patty) that’s covered with French fries and melted cheese. Other popular offerings include steak, stir fried dishes, and various breakfast foods, vegetables, and desserts. Schedules are important at the center, and mealtimes are no different: Breakfast: 7:00 to 8:00 a.m. (Sundays from 8:00 to 9:00) Lunch: 12:00 to 1 p.m. Dinner: 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Lincoln Recovery’s housekeeping staff also works hard to wash and replace linens, clean rooms and other parts of the facilities, and provide a hygienic and safe environment. If you need toiletries or additional items, you can order them online or staff members can purchase them for you on designated days. While rehab might be a new experience, we try to make it more familiar. We know that an addiction treatment center isn’t home, but at Lincoln Recovery, we aim to provide the next best thing.
Food

Mealtimes are set. Breakfast is 7:30–8:30 am, lunch is noon–1:00 pm, and dinner is from 5:00–6:00 pm. The menu is typically prepared on a four-week basis. If the client has special needs or doesn’t like the meal for the day, other arrangements can be made.

What to Bring

Illinois has four seasons—sometimes all four in the course of a day. Out-of-town visitors are advised to pack for anything, just in case. That means the potential for snow squalls in July but also July weather in January. Or vice-versa.

It’s a good idea to pack essentials, but Lincoln Recovery can provide travel-size toiletries like soaps, toothpaste, and deodorant, as needed. In the warmer seasons, bring a swimsuit for pool time.

Are There Other Facilities?

Looking to escape Illinois to recover? Sometimes a change of scenery can help. We have facilities in other states. You can recover at our California rehab, our Texas rehab, our Colorado rehab, or our Wisconsin rehab. We also have a smaller facility in California called Chapters Capistrano, where you can get a private room by the beach to recover.
